Death Toll from Nepal Floods Rises to 489

New Delhi, August 28 (KUNA) -- Nepal’s police announced on Friday that the death toll from devastating flash floods that struck Rasuwa district and surrounding areas in the northern part of the country has risen to 489. The Nepal News Agency quoted police as saying that authorities have so far recovered the bodies of 489 people from eight districts, while reports indicate that 2,381 people remain missing, including 644 foreigners, mostly from India, the United States, Ukraine, Malaysia, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Canada. Nepal Police confirmed that it is working in coordination with emergency teams to relocate high-risk families to safe areas, clear obstructions from roads, and carry out large-scale search and rescue operations in collaboration with local communities.
