Pakistan and Saudi Arabia discuss enhancing cooperation in agricultural production
Islamabad, August 28 (KUNA) -- Pakistan and Saudi Arabia today discussed ways to enhance cooperation in agricultural and livestock production, as well as food processing, alongside the exchange of experiences and expertise to support the sustainability of the agricultural sector and strengthen its growth potential.
The Pakistani government said in a statement that this came during a meeting held by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif with Saudi Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Al-Fadli at the Prime Minister’s Office in the federal capital, Islamabad.
During the meeting, the Pakistani Prime Minister reaffirmed the depth of relations between the two countries, noting that the Mecca Agreement for Joint Defense, recently signed by Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Pakistan, has strengthened ties among the three nations and sent a message of unity and peace throughout the region.
He emphasized the need for Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, as strategic partners, to focus their efforts on enhancing economic and agricultural relations, transforming their longstanding relationship into a stronger, more mutually beneficial commercial and investment partnership.
He expressed satisfaction with the level of constructive dialogue between the two sides, particularly regarding the export of agricultural products from Pakistan to Saudi Arabia.
The statement added that both sides exchanged views on ways to boost agricultural production in Pakistan through the utilization of technology, research and development, and the optimal use of water resources.
The Pakistani Prime Minister announced that a delegation of Pakistani agricultural experts would visit Riyadh soon to continue these discussions, aiming to maximize the benefits of the bilateral partnership between the two countries.
For his part, the Saudi minister reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Pakistan in the sectors of agriculture, water, and food security.
