Algerian Foreign Minister and his Palestinian counterpart discuss latest developments in occupied territories

Algiers, Aug 27 (KUNA) -- Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf and his Palestinian counterpart, Vassini Shahin, held talks on Thursday to discuss the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and the need to coordinate efforts to put an end to the suffering of the Palestinian people.

The Algerian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that the bilateral discussions took place on the sidelines of the 23rd Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The statement clarified that the two ministers discussed the latest developments in the occupied Palestinian territories amid escalating Israeli violations and the occupying authorities’ efforts to undermine the Palestinian national project. They also reviewed, according to the statement, the efforts undertaken to halt these violations and provide the necessary protection for the Palestinian people.

On this occasion, the Algerian minister reaffirmed his country’s firm and steadfast position in supporting the Palestinian people, their just cause, and their legitimate and inalienable right to establish their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions.

For her part, the Palestinian Foreign Minister expressed her deep appreciation to Algeria for its constant support alongside the Palestinian people. (End) M.R. / F.A.S.
