Egypt wins contract to supply natural gas to the Jordanian capital for $22.7 million

Cairo, Aug 27 (KUNA) -- The Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources announced on Thursday that one of its affiliated companies won a contract to supply gas in the Jordanian capital, Amman, with a contract value of approximately $22.7 million. The ministry said in a statement that Petrojet, an affiliate of the Egyptian Petroleum Sector, won the project through a consortium with a local Jordanian company on behalf of the Jordanian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, adding that the project duration is 18 months. It clarified that the project includes design, supply, execution, and construction works for a natural gas pipeline approximately 22 kilometers long, connecting the Al-Muqawar industrial development zone to the natural gas network, starting from the Arab Gas Pipeline, along with the construction of gas reduction and metering stations and a dispatch and reception room. The ministry emphasized that Petrojet’s win reflects the growing presence of Egyptian Petroleum Sector companies in international markets and their ability to compete and execute pipeline, infrastructure, and energy projects in regional markets. The project comes as part of a series of initiatives undertaken by Egyptian Petroleum Sector companies abroad, which bolster their international operations and enhance their competitiveness regionally.
