Kuwait national basketball team begins its Asian Cup qualifiers campaign with an 88-63 victory over Oman

Dubai, August 26 (KUNA) – The Kuwaiti senior men’s national basketball team began its campaign in the preliminary qualifiers for the 2029 FIBA Asia Cup with a well-deserved 88-63 victory over Oman in Group A, hosted in Dubai. Kuwait led 26-12 after the first quarter. Oman won the second quarter 16-14, but Kuwait maintained its advantage to lead 40-28 at halftime. The Kuwaiti side continued its dominance in the second half, winning the third quarter 21-13 and the fourth 27-22, securing the match by a 25-point margin with a final score of 88-63.

Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) after the match, Kuwaiti national team player Abdulaziz Al-Humaidi said the team delivered a strong performance against Oman, successfully imposing its style of play from the opening tip and maintaining its lead until the end. He added that the victory in the first match marks a positive start for the team in the qualifiers and provides players with the motivation to continue delivering high-level performances in upcoming games. Al-Humaidi emphasized that the squad is focused on working hard and concentrating on each match individually to achieve the best possible results, aiming to advance to the next round and continue their path toward qualification for the 2029 FIBA Asia Cup.
