Washington Imposes Sanctions on Transnational Networks Linked to the Far Left
Washington, Aug 26 (KUNA) -- The United States imposed sanctions today on what it described as “transnational extremist-left terrorist networks,” adding that one of them provides digital infrastructure for the Antifa organization, which is listed on U.S. terrorism sanctions lists. In a statement, the U.S. Treasury Department said its Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) took action “to counter the growing threat posed by violent extremist-left terrorist groups.” It noted that OFAC sanctioned “Autistici/Inventati,” based in Italy, for providing specialized digital infrastructure, tools, and services to cells of Antifa and other violent extremist-left groups, including “a foreign terrorist organization” and “Palestine Action,” based in the United Kingdom, which the British government designated as a terrorist group in July 2025.
U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in the statement that “extremist-left radicals, their front groups, and their supporters must understand one thing: we will use the full weight of our economic tools against them.” He added that “there is no place for political terrorism in our society, and we will continue to cut off the financial lifeline of these groups until they are eliminated.”
In a separate statement, State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott said that “Autistici/Inventati,” also known as “AI Collective,” and other entities targeted by Treasury sanctions operate “within transnational extremist-left terrorist networks.” He affirmed that “Autistici/Inventati” provides digital infrastructure for Antifa cells and other radical-left networks in the United States, Europe, and other regions around the world. He added that the full suite of digital services it offers is specifically designed to equip extremist-left “terrorist” groups with the means to organize, recruit, communicate, and carry out violent attacks. He noted that its tools are frequently used to share information about targets, evidence, tactical methods, and data from radical-left activists, including many of the most active and violent Antifa groups in the United States.
