Aden, August 25 (KUNA) -- The Yemeni government welcomed on Tuesday the United States’ decision to remove Syria from the list of state sponsors of terrorism, describing it as an important step toward realizing the Syrian people’s aspirations for security, stability, development, and prosperity. The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement, reaffirmed Yemen’s steadfast and supportive stance toward all efforts aimed at assisting Syria and its people in overcoming the repercussions of the past phase and enhancing its active regional and international role, in a manner that serves its interests and safeguards its sovereignty, unity, security, and stability. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio officially announced on Monday the removal of Syria from the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism, noting that this move represents a “historic step” that provides the Syrian people with a new path toward growth and prosperity.
