US President reaffirms "zero tolerance" for mine-laying in the Strait of Hormuz

Washington, Aug 25 (KUNA) -- U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that Iran had been warned that any attempt to plant new mines in the Strait of Hormuz would result in the immediate destruction of the source, whether a ship or a boat, emphasizing “zero tolerance” for any such efforts. President Trump wrote in a post on the social media platform Truth Social, “The U.S. Navy just informed me that all mines in international waters of the Strait of Hormuz have been removed or detonated.” He added that “Iran has been notified that any ship or boat that plants new mines will be systematically and immediately destroyed,” noting that the U.S. Space Force “is monitoring every inch of the strait,” as well as “Mount Faqo and the other three nuclear sites that have already been destroyed.” He stressed that “the policy of zero tolerance regarding mine-laying is fully in effect.” In another post, the U.S. president stated that Iran “is not paying the salaries of large segments of its military while simultaneously killing protesters—even at times when they are not protesting—at unprecedented levels,” describing this as “a massive humanitarian crisis that must be ended now.” (End) R.S.R. / M.A.A.
