Ministry of Health Establishes Awareness Booth at The Avenues Mall to Promote Environmental Sanitation Under the Slogan "Prevention is Better Than Cure"

Kuwait City, August 25 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Health today inaugurated the second environmental sanitation awareness pavilion for 2026 at The Avenues Mall, under the slogan “Prevention is better than cure,” in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary for Public Health Affairs Dr. Al-Mondher Al-Hasawi, as part of its efforts to enhance awareness of environmental sanitation and disease prevention.

In a press release, the Ministry stated that the pavilion, organized by the Medical and Rodent Insect Control Department, showcased the department’s field environmental sanitation efforts from November 2023 through July 2026. These efforts included identifying and addressing thousands of environmental observations, in collaboration with public health service departments across various health regions and relevant authorities.

According to the statement, Dr. Fatima Al-Darwish, Head of the Medical and Rodent Insect Control Department, emphasized that environmental sanitation is a shared societal responsibility. She noted that the pavilion focused on raising awareness about reducing factors that contribute to the spread of insects and rodents, as well as pollution, while encouraging recycling and sound environmental practices.

Dr. Al-Darwish added that the department’s services are available around the clock via the Ministry of Health’s hotline at 151, by selecting option 6, as well as through the “Salem” mobile application.

Environmental sanitation refers to a set of essential measures and services aimed at protecting human health by creating a clean and safe environment free from pathogens and pollution. (End) M.N.M / A.M.H
