(German Statistics): German economy grows by 0.3% in the second quarter of 2026

Berlin, August 25 (KUNA) -- The German Federal Statistical Office announced on Tuesday that the German economy grew by 0.3 percent in the second quarter of this year, despite pressures stemming from the situation in the Middle East, rising energy prices, and trade disputes with the United States. The office, based in Wiesbaden in central-southern Germany, stated that this growth was primarily driven by a 2 percent increase in exports during the second quarter. Meanwhile, the German central bank warned that low water levels in German rivers, particularly the Rhine, are constraining transport and raising shipping costs, which could negatively impact industrial production and export growth in the third quarter.
