Youth Minister Expresses Confidence in the Capabilities of Kuwaiti Champions Participating in the Asian Games

Kuwait City, Aug 24 (KUNA) -- Minister of State for Youth and Sports Affairs Dr. Tariq Al-Jalahma expressed his confidence in the capabilities of Kuwaiti athletes participating in the 2026 Asian Games and the 2026 Asian Para Games. This came during an encouraging speech delivered by Minister Al-Jalahma at an event hosted by the Japanese Embassy in Kuwait at the residence of Japanese Ambassador Kenichiro Mukai, under the theme “Imagine One Asia / Imagine One Heart,” in anticipation of the 20th Asian Games and the 5th Asian Para Games, scheduled to be held in Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4 and from October 18 to 24, respectively.

In his opening remarks, Minister Al-Jalahma urged the athletes to maintain high focus and discipline, emphasizing that they represent not only themselves but also their country in these games, and wished them every success and positive results in the competitions.

For his part, Ambassador Mukai expressed deep appreciation for the Kuwaiti athletes for their participation and representation of their nation in these games, underscoring the deep ties between the two countries. He noted that Kuwait has repeatedly demonstrated its sporting excellence and capabilities, particularly in karate, and stressed the importance of mutual rapprochement through sports.

More than 70 guests attended the event, including prominent figures such as Sheikh Fahad Nasser Al-Sabah, President of the Kuwait Olympic Committee; Mansour Al-Sarheed, President of the Kuwait Para Sports Committee; and Sheikh Sheikha Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Honorary President of the Disabled Club. In addition to senior dignitaries, representatives from government entities, sports federations, and Kuwaiti athletes were also present.
