Commander of the Unified Joint Maritime Operations Center Discusses Several Issues of Common Interest in Muscat

Muscat, August 24 (KUNA) -- Rear Admiral Adnan Al-Munaie, Commander of the Joint Maritime Operations Center of the Unified Military Command of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), held discussions with Acting Commander of the Royal Navy of Oman, Rear Admiral Adnan Al-Raisi, on a number of topics of mutual interest, particularly in maritime fields.

The Omani military command stated in a press release on Monday that the talks took place during Al-Raisi’s reception of Al-Munaie, Commander of the Joint Maritime Operations Center, at the Al-Murtafa camp in the Omani capital, Muscat, where Al-Munaie and his accompanying delegation are on an official visit.

The statement added that both sides exchanged views and discussed several matters of mutual interest, especially in maritime domains, before Al-Munaie and his delegation visited the Omani Maritime Security Center. There, they received a briefing from the center’s leadership on its roles and various efforts aimed at safeguarding the marine environment in territorial waters, and toured the center’s facilities, which house advanced technical equipment and modern systems.

The Joint Maritime Operations Center was inaugurated in February 2016, is headquartered in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and aims to enhance integration and cohesion among the armed forces of the GCC member states to protect territorial waters, ensure freedom of maritime navigation, and guarantee high-level GCC cooperation and coordination in the fields of maritime security and defense.
