Libyan Prime Minister reaffirms support for the Unified Development Agreement and commitment to implementing its provisions

Tunis, Aug 23 (KUNA) -- Libyan National Unity Government (NUG) Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah affirmed on Sunday that his government supports the Unified Development Agreement and is committed to fully implementing its provisions, stressing the importance of identifying deficiencies and their causes in the implementation process and addressing them to ensure the achievement of the objectives for which the agreement was established. The Libyan News Agency (LNA) reported that this statement came during Dbeibah’s meeting with Naji Isa, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya (CBL), at the bank’s headquarters in Tripoli, to discuss Libya’s economic and financial situation and ways to enhance integration and coordination between fiscal and monetary policies. The meeting also reviewed the follow-up on revenue and public expenditure and examined measures related to implementing the provisions of the Unified Development Agreement and the extent of compliance with its stipulations. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination between the Central Bank of Libya and the government, and of monitoring the implementation of agreed-upon measures to support financial and economic stability in Libya. The Unified Development Agreement was approved last April, after approximately 13 years of financial and institutional fragmentation, with the aim of unifying public expenditure, regulating salaries and subsidies, and organizing development projects to contribute to enhancing financial and economic stability in Libya.
