Egyptian Intelligence Chief Meets with Palestinian Delegation to Discuss Developments in the West Bank and Electoral Obligations

Cairo, Aug 23 (KUNA) – Egyptian General Intelligence Service Chief Lt. Gen. Hassan Rashad held talks today, Sunday, with a Palestinian Authority delegation led by Vice President Husam Badreddin Aref, discussing developments in the West Bank and upcoming Palestinian electoral obligations.

The Egyptian General Authority for Information’s press center said in a statement that the meeting was part of Egyptian efforts to foster Palestinian reconciliation and strengthen national unity in the face of challenges confronting the Palestinian cause at the current stage. It added that the talks resulted in agreement to unify Palestinian national efforts to address current challenges facing the Palestinian cause and to support a unified Palestinian position regarding developments and recent events.

The delegation included National Council Chairman Roushatta Fattouh and Palestinian Intelligence Chief Majed Faraj.

These talks come amid continuous Egyptian initiatives to support Palestinian unity and enhance national consensus amid rapid developments in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in the West Bank, which is witnessing unprecedented escalation in Israeli settler attacks on Palestinian villages and a rise in settlement activities.
