Egyptian Foreign Minister Reaffirms Egypt's Support for Sudan's Unity and Rejection of Attempts to Divide It

Cairo, August 23 (KUNA) -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty reaffirmed today, Sunday, his country’s steadfast support for the unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national institutions of Sudan, and rejected any attempts aimed at dividing the country or creating parallel entities. In a meeting with Sudanese Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Gibreel Ibrahim, Abdelatty stressed, according to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the importance of reaching a political settlement driven by purely Sudanese will, safeguarding the Sudanese people’s resources and meeting their aspirations for security and stability. The statement noted that the meeting addressed the fraternal and historical ties between the two countries and ways to continue developing bilateral cooperation, particularly in financial and economic fields, as well as opportunities to enhance cooperation and exchange expertise between relevant institutions in both countries in the area of fiscal policies, and to boost economic, trade, and investment cooperation. The meeting also discussed ways to expand cooperation on projects to rehabilitate Sudan’s infrastructure, particularly in the roads and transport sectors, as well as the medical and pharmaceutical sectors, thereby supporting early recovery and reconstruction efforts and leveraging Egyptian expertise and capabilities in these areas. Minister Abdelatty also reviewed preparations for hosting the inaugural edition of the African Business Summit within the framework of the Alamein Economic Forum in Africa, which provides a platform to strengthen economic and investment partnerships among African countries.
