Child Martyred and Seven Palestinians Injured in Israeli Air Strike in Central Gaza

Gaza, August 23 (KUNA) -- Health authorities announced on Sunday that a Palestinian child was martyred and seven others, including a child, were injured in an Israeli air strike on the town of Al-Zawaida in central Gaza Strip, raising the number of martyrs since early morning to two. Health authorities said the emergency department at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital received one martyr and several injured people from an air strike carried out by Israeli warplanes on Al-Zawaida in the central sector, marking the second martyrdom since early morning. Eyewitnesses told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the strike targeted the Al-Zawaida area following evacuation orders issued by Israeli forces that included displaced persons, residents, and international institutions in the area, resulting in injuries to several Palestinians who were transported to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital for treatment before a child was declared martyred from his injuries, while the condition of another child was described as critical. In a related development, civil defense teams in the Gaza Strip said in a press statement that their crews in the central area were trying to control a fire that broke out inside a parking lot targeted by the Israeli army near the Maghazi intersection on Salah al-Din Street. Israeli strikes and targeting have resumed in a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement, amid ongoing efforts to end the war on the Gaza Strip, with these violations raising Palestinian fears of continued and worsening suffering in the Strip.
