Egyptian Red Crescent: Dispatch of 2,720 tons of comprehensive humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip

Cairo, Aug 23 (KUNA) -- The Egyptian Red Crescent announced on Sunday the dispatch of more than 2,720 tons of comprehensive humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip as part of the "Zaad al-Azza... From Egypt to Gaza" initiative, in line with its role as the national mechanism for coordinating and delivering humanitarian assistance to the Strip.

In a statement, the Egyptian Red Crescent said the initiative’s convoy, comprising 262 trucks, departed carrying food baskets, relief supplies, medical equipment, therapeutic drugs, as well as petroleum products necessary to power hospitals and vital facilities in Gaza.

The statement affirmed that the Egyptian Red Crescent has continued its efforts and readiness since the onset of the crisis in Gaza, operating across all logistical centers at the border to facilitate the entry of humanitarian and relief aid exceeding one million tons, with the participation of more than 75,000 volunteers.
