Official data: Inflation rate in the Sultanate of Oman reached 3.2 percent in July

Muscat, August 22 (KUNA) -- Official data showed on Saturday that inflation in the Sultanate of Oman rose by 3.2 percent in July last year compared to the same month in 2025, while the average inflation rate from January to July of this year stood at 2.9 percent. Data from the Consumer Price Index, issued by Oman’s National Centre for Statistics and Information, indicated that the group of food and non-alcoholic beverages recorded the highest increase among major categories, rising by 7.3 percent year-on-year, followed by the transport group at 6.5 percent, and the group of miscellaneous personal goods and services at 5.3 percent. The restaurants and hotels group saw a rise of 3.6 percent, while the furniture, household equipment and routine household maintenance group increased by 3.1 percent. Education prices rose by 2.2 percent, health by 1.7 percent, and culture and recreation by 0.4 percent. According to the data, prices in the communications, tobacco, clothing and footwear groups remained unchanged compared to July of last year, while prices in the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels group fell by 0.6 percent. Regarding the food and non-alcoholic beverages group specifically, the data showed that prices of several sub-groups rose compared to July of last year: vegetables by 19.9 percent, fruits by 15.8 percent, meat by 8.7 percent, fish by 5.7 percent, and non-alcoholic beverages by 3.3 percent. Prices of sugar, jam, honey and sweets rose by 2.4 percent, milk, cheese and eggs by 2.2 percent, bread and cereals by 1 percent, and oils and fats by 0.5 percent, compared to the same month in 2025.
