BRICS adopts the Jaipur Declaration to enhance tourism cooperation

New Delhi, Aug 21 (KUNA) -- Tourism ministers of the BRICS group adopted the Jaipur Declaration on Friday, establishing a framework to enhance tourism cooperation among member states. The Indian Ministry of Tourism stated in a press release that the Jaipur Declaration, issued following the ministers’ meeting in Jaipur, Rajasthan, in eastern India, reflects the efforts of the BRICS Tourism Working Group during India’s presidency of the group, including the importance of leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) in tourism, sustainability, and responsible tourism.

The statement added that the declaration recognizes the transformative potential of AI and digital technologies, provided they are responsible, secure, and human-centric in the tourism sector. It also supports cooperation in areas such as tourism planning, destination management, visitor services, multilingual communication, and facilitating travel procedures.

Furthermore, the declaration emphasized the importance of sustainable tourism that focuses on local communities, protects natural and cultural heritage, and promotes investment and tourism infrastructure development. It also called for the development and promotion of diverse tourism products, continuous training and skills development, partnerships between the industry and academia, the exchange of tourism data and statistics, sharing of best practices, and strengthening human ties among the peoples of BRICS member states.

BRICS is an intergovernmental and economic bloc comprising some of the world’s leading emerging economies, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, along with recently joined members Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Ethiopia, and Indonesia.
