Britain, Canada, and Australia: Israel’s occupation decision to bomb the Global Central Kitchen is shocking

London, August 21 (KUNA) -- Britain, Australia, and Canada on Friday condemned the Israeli occupation’s decision regarding the findings of the investigation into the drone attack that targeted a convoy of the World Central Kitchen (WCK), which was distributing aid in Gaza on April 1, 2024, describing it as “shameful.”

In a joint statement issued by the British Foreign Office, the three countries noted that the Israeli military announced it would not conduct criminal investigations into the attack, without providing further clarification. The statement added that the Israeli occupation’s announcement on August 19 was “shameful,” emphasizing that the drone strike in Gaza, which killed several humanitarian workers, warranted further investigations to achieve “justice and accountability.”

It pointed out that the attack on the World Central Kitchen was “one of countless incidents in Gaza that have gone unpunished,” noting that humanitarian workers in Gaza “continue to work tirelessly to support civilians in dire need of assistance, risking their lives while operating under the most dangerous conditions.”

The statement affirmed that “Gaza, despite the fragile ceasefire, remains the most dangerous place to deliver humanitarian aid,” citing the killing of 186 humanitarian workers in 2025. It called on the Israeli occupation to “comply with its obligations under international humanitarian law,” stressing the need to make further efforts to ensure that humanitarian workers can carry out their duties safely and to “draw lessons from this tragedy.”

The World Central Kitchen is a U.S.-based, non-profit, non-governmental civil charity that distributes food and food aid to disaster victims worldwide. (End) A.S.H / A.M.S
