India calls on BRICS nations to adopt a human-centric approach to science and innovation
New Delhi, Aug 21 (KUNA) -- India on Friday called for adopting a human-centric approach to science and innovation, emphasizing that science, technology, and innovation should serve humanity by enhancing resilience, driving inclusive growth, promoting sustainable development, and establishing equitable partnerships among nations.
In a statement, India’s Ministry of Science and Technology said this came on the sidelines of India’s hosting of the 14th BRICS Ministerial Meeting on Science, Technology and Innovation in Chennai, under the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.”
It added that Independent Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Jitendra Singh, in his opening address, called for collective efforts to achieve innovation that is accessible, affordable, reliable, and sustainable.
The ministry noted that Singh highlighted the rapid transformation driven by emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing technologies, advanced materials, biotechnology, photonics, geospatial information technologies, and high-performance computing.
Singh affirmed that “while these technologies create unprecedented opportunities for progress, they also require stronger international cooperation to ensure that innovation remains accessible, affordable, reliable, and sustainable.”
