8 killed in plane crash in remote area of western Alaska

Kuwait City, Aug 21 (KUNA) -- The U.S. Army Alaska command, under the U.S. Department of Defense, said eight people were killed on Thursday in a plane crash in a remote area west of Alaska, located in the far northwest of North America. The U.S. news network ABC News quoted the command responsible for military and defense operations in the Alaska and Arctic regions as stating that all eight passengers on board the aircraft perished in the incident. Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration said the aircraft, a Cessna 441, had departed from the city of Anchorage in the state on Thursday afternoon local time. It added that the plane was heading to the Cape Newenham Long Range Radar Site, a public and military radar monitoring station operated by the U.S. Air Force, noting that it crashed west of the radar site’s airport.
