Acting Director of Youth and Sports: "Your Summer with Us" Program Attracts 800 Trainees in 6 Sports

Kuwait City, Aug 20 (KUNA) – The Acting Director General of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports, Bashar Abdullah, said today that the “Your Summer with Us” program, aimed at raising sports awareness and promoting physical activity, has attracted more than 800 trainees since its launch last July, with participants distributed across six sports.

Abdullah told KUNA that the program, which targets age groups from 6 to 26 years and runs until September 25 next year, is not merely a means of occupying leisure time but represents a strategic initiative to instill the concept of sports in the minds of children and youth. He explained that the program, which provides opportunities to discover promising talents, serves as a gateway to building Olympic champions capable of representing Kuwait at international events.

He noted that the program includes taekwondo, judo, basketball, ice skating, shooting, and bowling. Most of these sports target participants aged 6 to 15, while shooting is reserved for those aged 14 to 26, ensuring diversity and meeting the needs of different age groups. (End) S.A.D./M.S.A.
