Three killed in explosion of Israeli occupation remnants' explosive devices in southern Lebanon

Beirut, Aug 19 (KUNA) -- Three people were killed and another injured in an explosion caused by unexploded ordnance left behind by the Israeli occupation aggression in southern Lebanon, raising the total number of victims of the ongoing aggression since March last year to 4,351 dead and 12,704 wounded. The Lebanese National News Agency reported that ordnance remnants from the occupation exploded near earthen berms between the towns of Zhour al-Sharqiya and Mifdoun, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuring another. Earlier, the Emergency Operations Center under Lebanon’s Ministry of Health announced that the cumulative toll of the Israeli occupation aggression had risen to 4,348 dead and 12,703 wounded. These violations and on-the-ground developments come despite the Framework Agreement, reached under U.S. sponsorship to end military confrontations, which stipulates that the Special Military Coordination Group for Lebanon will directly coordinate between the parties to ensure the gradual withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces and the extension of Lebanese state sovereignty through the deployment of the Lebanese army in the southern areas.
