GCC Secretary-General Praises UAE's Efforts in Completing New Prisoner Swap Between Russia and Ukraine

Riyadh, August 19 (KUNA) – Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Al-Bedaiwi today Wednesday praised the diplomatic and humanitarian efforts undertaken by the United Arab Emirates, which led to the completion of a new prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine. In a statement, Al-Bedaiwi said that the UAE’s active mediation in this file reflects its steadfast approach of employing diplomacy to serve humanitarian causes, thereby helping to alleviate human suffering and opening broader avenues for initiatives aimed at ending the Russia-Ukraine crisis and reaching a sustainable peaceful settlement that ensures security and stability and safeguards civilian lives. He further clarified that GCC member states play important roles in supporting de-escalation tracks and bridging differences on various issues, driven by their conviction in the importance of dialogue and diplomatic means in addressing international crises.
