Lebanon: Death toll from continued Israeli occupation aggression rises to 4,348

Beirut, August 19 (KUNA) -- Lebanon announced on Wednesday that the cumulative total of victims from the ongoing Israeli occupation’s aggression, which began last March, has risen to 4,348 killed. The Emergency Operations Center of the Lebanese Ministry of Health said in a statement that the continued Israeli occupation aggression on various areas and towns across the country since March 2 has resulted in a total of 4,348 killed and 12,703 wounded.
In a related development, the Lebanese National News Agency reported that the Israeli occupation carried out violent explosions in the vicinity of the cemetery in the eastern town of Zoutar, as well as other massive explosions that hit the towns of Hula, Talousa, and Bani Hayan, all in the Marjayoun district of southern Lebanon.
The agency added that the occupation’s warplane launched an air strike targeting the town of Mansouri in the Sidon district with two missiles, while the town of Sarbin came under heavy artillery fire from occupation forces.
These violations and field developments come despite the “Framework Agreement,” reached under U.S. sponsorship to end military confrontations, which stipulates that the “Special Military Coordination Group for Lebanon” will directly coordinate between the parties to ensure the gradual withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces and the extension of Lebanese state sovereignty through the deployment of the Lebanese army in the southern areas.
