Madrid, August 18 (KUNA) -- The Spanish football club FC Barcelona officially announced on Tuesday the signing of Spanish midfielder Rodri from Manchester City on a four-year contract. In a statement on its official website, the club said that 30-year-old Rodrigo Hernandez Cascante successfully passed his medical examination and signed a deal to join the Catalan club until June 30, 2030. Meanwhile, the local sports newspaper Marca reported that Barcelona paid a fixed fee of 60 million euros ($69.5 million), plus 15 million euros ($17.4 million) in add-ons linked to his performance. Rodri, who won the Ballon d’Or in 2024, plays as a defensive midfielder and is renowned for his ability to control the tempo of the game, precise passing, tactical awareness, ball recovery, as well as his capacity to advance and contribute offensively. He joined Manchester City in 2019 and won the English Premier League four times, the FA Cup twice, the League Cup four times, the UEFA Champions League in 2023, the UEFA Super Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup in the same year.
