Gulf Cooperation Council strongly condemns Israeli occupation airstrikes on Abu al-Duhur military airport in Syria

Riyadh, August 18 (KUNA) -- Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Al-Bedaiwi expressed his strongest condemnation and rejection today, Tuesday, of the airstrikes carried out by Israeli occupation forces that targeted the Abu al-Dhahur military airport in the Idlib province of Syria.

In a statement, Al-Bedaiwi said that the Israeli occupation’s brazen targeting of Syrian territory constitutes an unacceptable violation of its sovereignty and the sanctity of its land, and runs counter to international rules and norms that prohibit interference in the sovereignty of states.

He stressed that the continuation of such practices would exacerbate tensions and escalation, and undermine regional and international efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region.

He called on the international community to assume its responsibilities, adopt a firm stance against these violations, and work to halt Israeli occupation attacks on Syrian territory in order to safeguard its security and stability.

Al-Bedaiwi reaffirmed the GCC states’ solidarity with the Syrian Arab Republic, its sovereignty, and the integrity of its territory. (End)
