Iraqi Prime Minister Condemns Attacks on Kurdistan Region

Erbil, August 18 (KUNA) -- Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi condemned on Tuesday the recent attacks on the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. The Kurdistan Region government said in a statement that this came during a phone call between al-Zaidi and Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, in which the former expressed his strong condemnation of the drone attack targeting the private office of the region’s prime minister and the residence of the director of the Protection Agency, emphasizing that these attacks targeting the security of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region are unequivocally rejected. For his part, Barzani expressed his gratitude to al-Zaidi for his call and follow-up, reiterating the utmost importance of preserving the security and stability of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The Counter-Terrorism Service in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq had announced that the office of the region’s prime minister and the residence of the director of the Peshmerga Protection Agency in the Piramam district of Erbil province were targeted yesterday by two drone strikes, with no casualties reported.
