Minister of Health issues ministerial decision to regulate the trade of tobacco and nicotine products

Kuwait City, August 17 (KUNA) -- Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi issued a ministerial decision regulating the trade of tobacco and nicotine products and nicotine delivery systems in the State of Kuwait, as part of the Ministry’s efforts to safeguard the health and well-being of future generations and reduce the health burden of smoking on society.
In a statement on Monday, the Ministry of Health said the decision prioritizes the protection of children and young people by prohibiting sales to individuals under the age of 21, banning products that appeal to them, and restricting sales venues and methods. The decision bans sales at specified locations and through electronic platforms and delivery services.
The Ministry added that the decision prohibits unlicensed, untraceable, or non-compliant products, while requiring the registration and approval of products and the disclosure of their ingredients and nicotine concentrations.
It further clarified that the decision covers media, digital platforms, influencers, and promotional activities. The decision will take effect on January 1, 2027. (End) M.N.M. / T.A.B.
