Eight Arab and Islamic countries condemn Israel's rejection of the road map regarding Gaza

Cairo, Aug 16 (KUNA) -- Eight Arab and Islamic countries today Sunday condemned the Israeli occupation’s rejection of the roadmap for completing the implementation of U.S. President Donald Trump’s comprehensive plan to end the conflict in the Gaza Strip, warning that such rejection undermines peace efforts in the region.

The statement was issued jointly by the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Jordan, Indonesia, and Pakistan, and disseminated by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The foreign ministers affirmed in the statement that the Israeli occupation’s rejection constitutes a direct rejection of the comprehensive plan, which is endorsed by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, and threatens its implementation while undermining collective efforts to achieve peace in Gaza and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories.

The ministers stressed that the Israeli occupation now bears responsibility for obstructing efforts aimed at establishing peace in Gaza and the rest of the occupied Palestinian territories. They clarified that the roadmap, accepted by Palestinian factions after intensive efforts by intermediary parties and the United States, represents a crucial milestone in implementing the comprehensive plan, including the disarmament of armed groups, concurrent with the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces, the deployment of an international stabilization force, the transfer of administrative authority to the National Authority for the Governance of Gaza, and the reconstruction of the Strip.

They warned that rejecting the roadmap threatens to derail the intensive efforts undertaken by President Trump to end the war in Gaza and create the necessary conditions for a lasting peace.

The ministers also emphasized the importance of continued active U.S. engagement to ensure and compel the Israeli occupation to fully comply with the commitments and arrangements stipulated in the comprehensive plan and its accompanying roadmap, and to prevent any further obstruction to their implementation.

The ministers further affirmed that the Israeli occupation bears direct and full responsibility for any consequences resulting from its continued rejection, obstruction, delay, or non-compliance, including any deterioration in the situation on the ground and any disruption to efforts aimed at ending the war in Gaza.

They reiterated the urgent need for the full and immediate implementation of the comprehensive plan, which would help address the dire humanitarian situation and ensure security and stability for all in Gaza, paving the way for reconstruction and recovery.

The ministers unequivocally rejected any attempt to deny the establishment of a Palestinian state or to prevent its realization, including through unilateral measures, stressing that a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace can only be achieved through the implementation of the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state based on the 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The ministers also underscored the importance of continuing the role played by the Peace Council and called on all parties to support its efforts to implement the roadmap and advance the implementation of the second phase of President Trump’s comprehensive plan.

They urged the Peace Council to take immediate and concrete measures within its mandate to ensure the preservation of the comprehensive plan and to prevent any party from obstructing its implementation. (End) M.M. / M.A.A.
