(Environmental Public Authority): The Blue Pioneer Camp is a comprehensive educational experience that familiarizes students with the Kuwaiti environment

Kuwait City, Aug 16 (KUNA) -- The Public Authority for Agriculture Resources and Fisheries (PAF) affirmed that the “Blue Leader” camp is an integrated environmental and educational experience that familiarizes students with Kuwait’s environment and its components through a diverse program combining awareness, practical application, and fieldwork.

Sheikha Al-Ibrahim, Director of the Public Relations and Media Department and the official spokesperson for the Authority, told KUNA on Sunday, on the occasion of the launch of the camp’s second edition, which the Authority organizes in cooperation with the Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME), that the camp enhances environmental awareness and instills concepts of sustainability among youth.

Al-Ibrahim added that the camp focuses on experiential learning, giving students the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills interactively and fostering a sense of responsibility toward the environment and the importance of conserving natural resources.

She explained that the camp also provides students with an experience that combines learning, exploration, and teamwork, thereby strengthening their connection to the environment and transforming environmental and sustainability concepts into practices and real-life experiences.

She noted that participating students, aged between 11 and 13, will undergo a varied experience during the camp, including visits to several sites and institutions in the country to closely learn about their operations and their role in environmental protection.

The camp includes a range of activities and events that enhance environmental knowledge and encourage thinking about sustainable solutions. It also features diverse field visits and experiences, including a visit to the Science Center to learn about marine life and biodiversity, and to the fish market to observe different fish species and handle them.

The camp program also includes visits to the Authority’s laboratories, participation in environmental sampling exercises, and learning about the mechanisms for analyzing and examining samples. Additionally, it features a visit to the Ahmed Al-Jaber Oil and Gas Exhibition, operated by Kuwait Oil Company, to learn about the oil and gas sector and its relationship with sustainability concepts.

Al-Ibrahim clarified that the visit to the Coast Guard is part of the camp program to learn about their role in protecting the marine environment and ensuring maritime safety, along with a visit to “Aquamarin” to learn about the marine environment and marine organisms.

She stated that cooperation with ROPME reflects the importance of partnership and integration among environmental stakeholders and contributes to providing specialized environmental content that enriches participants’ experience, particularly regarding the marine environment, its protection, and sustainability.

She emphasized the Authority’s commitment to expanding partnerships with various government and private entities to deliver high-quality environmental programs targeting youth, stressing that building an environmentally conscious generation is one of the most important investments in achieving a more sustainable future.
