Egyptian President and US Special Envoy Discuss Regional Developments and Implementation of Gaza Agreement

Cairo, Aug 16 (KUNA) -- Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held talks today, Sunday, with U.S. Special Envoy Jared Kushner on developments in the Middle East and the Palestinian issue, as well as cooperation and coordination between Egypt and the United States.

Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, said in a statement that the meeting took place in the city of Alamein, attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Egyptian Expatriates Community, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, and Head of General Intelligence, Minister Hassan Rashad.

The spokesman added that the meeting addressed developments in the Middle East, with President al-Sisi emphasizing the importance of continuing efforts to confront shared challenges and support regional and international security and stability, as well as the necessity of resolving crises affecting the region to preserve regional stability.

He noted that the two sides discussed developments regarding the Palestinian issue, stressing the need for all parties to implement their commitments under the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, reached during the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Summit in October 2025.

Al-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the level of cooperation and coordination between the two countries across various fields of mutual interest.

For his part, Kushner praised the close coordination between the two countries and the efforts Cairo is making on various regional files to enhance peace and stability in the region, affirming that Egypt is a pivotal partner for the United States in the Middle East. (End) M.M. / N.S.A.
