Saudi League: Al-Nassr begins title defense campaign with a 3-0 win over Al-Fateh

Riyadh, August 15 (KUNA) -- Al-Nassr kicked off its campaign to defend the Saudi Professional League (Roshn) title for the 2026-2027 sports season on Saturday with a 3-0 victory over visitors Al-Fateh in the match held at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh, as part of the league’s opening round.

Brazilian Angelo Gabriel scored the first goal in the 37th minute, before Portuguese star Joao Felix added the second in the 40th minute, and his compatriot Samu Costa netted the third in the 73rd minute.

With this result, Al-Nassr secured its first three points in its title defense campaign. The team was without its captain and star, Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo, who watched the match from the stands after joining the squad’s preparations for the new season late due to his participation with the national team at the World Cup.

Al-Nassr is now preparing for its first match in the King’s Cup, where it will face Al-Diriyah on Tuesday in the first round. Meanwhile, Al-Fateh will play against Al-Ula on Wednesday in the same round.
