Arab League Condemns Continued Israeli Attacks on Lebanon
Cairo, August 15 (KUNA) – The Arab League strongly condemned today, Saturday, the ongoing Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon, which targeted civilians in Nabatieh and several neighboring villages, in a blatant violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and a dangerous escalation that threatens to undermine efforts aimed at resolving the conflict and ending the occupation.
The Arab League stated in a statement that these Israeli policies and practices reveal the occupation’s intentions to prolong confrontations, obstruct negotiations, and impose a new reality on the ground that is wholly unacceptable.
It warned of the danger of the situation deteriorating into broader confrontations unless the international community, particularly the United States, intervenes to halt the Israeli war machine and compel the occupation to comply with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701.
The statement reaffirmed the Arab League’s solidarity with Lebanon and its people, and its full support for the Lebanese state in confronting all attacks targeting Lebanon’s security, stability, sovereignty, and national cohesion. (End) MM/RJ
