Creative production of medals and brooches in traditional designs at Bayt Al Sadu

Kuwait City, August 15 (KUNA) – With creativity and passion, participants in a workshop hosted by the Bayt Al-Saddu (Woven Tent House) employed traditional symbols and motifs to craft artistic medals and brooches. The workshop, titled “Making Medals and Brooches in Traditional Shapes,” was held as part of the “Summer Cultural Festival 18,” organized by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters.

The workshop was led by Eman Al-Kandari and Dima Al-Mari, who introduced participants to the fundamentals of designing and producing medals and brooches inspired by heritage elements, using diverse materials and artistic techniques to transform them into contemporary, practical artworks.

In a statement to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), workshop instructor Eman Al-Kandari said that the “Making Medals and Brooches in Traditional Shapes” workshop is one of the events of the “Summer Cultural Festival 18,” which the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters strives to host in order to provide benefits and enjoyment to enthusiasts of these arts during the summer season, while also offering opportunities to develop their various craft skills.

She added that craft skills play a significant role in shaping the personalities of their enthusiasts, noting that manual craftwork has a profound positive impact on the psyche, especially in the era of rapid technological advancement.

The workshop combines education with practical application, contributing to the development of design and visual expression skills, and encouraging the inspiration and use of heritage elements in a contemporary artistic style.

The National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters places special emphasis on Kuwaiti heritage, striving to introduce its elements and components by organizing workshops and artistic and craft activities using interactive methods that blend learning with practice. This interest aligns with the Council’s commitment to transmitting cultural heritage to younger generations in a simplified and innovative manner, linking it to heritage elements by transforming them into contemporary artistic and craft works.
