Manama, August 15 (KUNA) -- The Kingdom of Bahrain expressed its strong condemnation and rejection today on Saturday of the aggressive Iranian attack targeting a vessel belonging to the UAE’s ADNOC company as it transited the Strait of Hormuz, in a blatant violation of international law, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817.

The Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed, in a statement, the Kingdom’s full solidarity with the sister State of the United Arab Emirates in all measures it takes to protect its sovereignty, security, stability, and interests, drawing on the deep-rooted fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries, and stressed that the security of the UAE is an integral part of the security of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

The Ministry further emphasized the necessity for the United Nations Security Council to assume its responsibilities by taking deterrent measures to ensure the safety and freedom of maritime navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, prevent piracy, and compel Iran to halt its aggressive attacks on commercial ships and oil tankers in the strait, and to fully and unconditionally reopen it, thereby preserving regional security and stability and safeguarding global energy security and food supplies.
