Indian President: National Interest is the Cornerstone of Our Foreign Policy

New Delhi, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- Indian President Droupadi Murmu affirmed today that national interest is the cornerstone of her country’s foreign policy, noting that peace, cooperation, dialogue, and the principle of “one world, one family” constitute the pillars of this policy. She made these remarks in a speech delivered on the eve of the celebrations marking the 79th anniversary of India’s independence, highlighting key milestones in India’s development journey and the security measures taken to safeguard its sovereignty. Murmu stated that India is advancing on the path of modern development while remaining committed to its rich heritage, explaining that “the true meaning of freedom lies in ensuring that all citizens can seize opportunities to realize their aspirations and work toward the goal of transforming India into a leading global nation.” She added that India has signed free trade agreements with numerous countries to enhance economic cooperation and strengthen mutual relations.
