Warnings of a severe heatwave across England

London, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- The UK Health Security Agency announced on Friday that the heat health warning for England, including London, has been extended until 10:00 a.m. local time on Saturday. The agency stated in a press release that the warning will remain in effect for the East Midlands, West Midlands, South East, South West, London, and East England until 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, while all other areas in England remain under an amber-level warning until 9:00 p.m. local time on Friday. The UK Met Office announced on Thursday that the country recorded its highest temperature of the year, reaching 38.1 degrees Celsius, at Kew Gardens in west London. This heatwave marks the fifth such event in Britain during the current summer. The National Drought Group recently revealed that 71.3 percent of the country’s area is experiencing sudden drought conditions due to reduced rainfall and rising temperatures. The Met Office anticipates weather improvements by next week, with rain expected. (End) A.S.H / A.M.S
