Egypt and Pakistan affirm the importance of close coordination to enhance regional stability and security

Cairo, Aug 14 (KUNA) -- Egypt and Pakistan reaffirmed on Friday their shared commitment to continuing consultations and close coordination in the coming period, particularly within the framework of the four-party regional mechanism, to support efforts aimed at enhancing regional stability and security.

The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that this came during a phone call received by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Badr Abdelatty from Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar. The call reflected both sides’ shared determination to strengthen bilateral relations and maintain continuous coordination and consultation on regional developments.

The statement clarified that the conversation featured an exchange of views on several regional files, foremost among them developments in the region, efforts to de-escalate tensions and restore calm, as well as regional security arrangements.

The two ministers also discussed ways to enhance cooperation in security and defense fields, in a manner that serves mutual interests and strengthens ties of collaboration.

According to the statement, the two ministers praised the historical ties and close bonds linking Egypt and Pakistan. They also reaffirmed, in this context, both countries’ commitment to continuing joint efforts to elevate bilateral cooperation across various political, economic, trade, and investment fields, and to explore new horizons for partnership between the two countries, thereby advancing bilateral cooperation to broader levels and achieving the shared interests of the two countries and their peoples.
