Lebanon crowned champions of the West Asia Beach Volleyball Championship

Beirut, August 13 (KUNA) -- Lebanese pairs Mirna Al-Sheikh and Lara Al-Nahi won the women’s title, while Lebanese duo Jad Abi Karim and Hadi Chbib claimed the men’s title on Thursday, securing first place for Lebanon at the conclusion of the second and final round of the West Asia Beach Volleyball Championship for men and women, held in the northern Lebanese city of Byblos.

In the men’s final, the Lebanese pair of Jad Abi Karim and Hadi Chbib won the gold medal and first place after defeating the Qatari duo of Musa Al-Khair and Mohamed Ehab in straight sets (2-1), thereby earning the Qatari team the silver medal. In the match for third and fourth place, the Lebanese pair of Omar Abi Karim and Charbel Khoury won the bronze medal after defeating their compatriots Jason Najjar and Karim Al-Saeed in two straight sets (2-0), with scores of 21-13 and 21-8.

In the women’s competition, the Lebanese pair of Mirna Al-Sheikh and Lara Al-Nahi won the gold medal and first place after defeating their compatriots Mervat Hamza and Nour Hamza in two straight sets (2-0), with scores of 22-18 and 21-19, thereby earning the latter pair the silver medal. In the women’s third-place match, the Lebanese pair of Lea and Mira secured the bronze medal after defeating the Qatari duo of Layla and Malak in two straight sets (2-0).

The second edition of the West Asia Beach Volleyball Championship witnessed strong competition among participating national teams and served as a prominent regional milestone for developing the sport and building the capacity of sports cadres in the region. (End) F.Z. / H.S. S.S.
