Lebanese Army: Continued Israeli occupation attacks hinder the return of residents and our deployment in the south

Beirut, Aug 12 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese Army command confirmed on Wednesday that the Israeli occupation forces continued to launch attacks and violate existing understandings and international laws, thereby “hindering the completion of the army’s deployment and the return of residents to the southern villages.”

In a statement, the Army’s Directorate of Guidance said the latest of these attacks involved the bombing of the Zouitour al-Sharqiye municipality building in Nabatieh Governorate, as well as the official school, clinic, children’s daycare center, and several homes in the town. This reflects “the occupation’s continuation of its destructive policy to inflict maximum damage on southern villages and towns and to prevent the establishment of stability.”

The statement noted that Lebanese forces continued to carry out their national missions in the south “despite the significant difficulties arising from the continuous Israeli occupation attacks,” adding that military drills and maneuvers were conducted in the Baalbek district to enhance the army’s readiness under current conditions.

In a related development, the Lebanese National News Agency reported that Israeli occupation drones flew densely and at low altitudes over the skies of the capital, Beirut, extending to the southern suburbs. The agency stated that the occupation’s warplanes launched two airstrikes targeting the town of Mansouriye, while a drone dropped explosive materials in two stages on the forests of Beit Yahoun in the Bint Jbeil district. Another drone dropped a sound bomb on Mansouriye, a town in the Sidon district in southern Lebanon.

These violations and field developments come despite the understandings reached under the framework agreement brokered by the United States to end military confrontations. (End) F.Z. / M.S.A.
