Weaving workshop at Bayt Al Sadu teaches participants to make cup coasters as part of the "Cultural Summer 18" events

Kuwait City, August 12 (KUNA) — A workshop on weaving cup cozies was held at the Bayt Al Sadu as part of the “Summer Cultural Festival 18” events, targeting participants aged 10 and above. The workshop is among the activities offered by the festival to develop the manual skills of attendees.
Led by instructor Haya Al-Balushi with the assistance of Sanaa Al-Adwani, the session provided participants with the opportunity to learn the basics of weaving in a simple and practical manner, applying these techniques to create custom cup cozies using various types of yarn.
Speaking to the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Al-Balushi explained that the workshop’s concept involves wrapping yarn around a cord and repeatedly coiling it while securing it in a circular shape until the desired size for the cup base is achieved. She noted that the workshop aims to enhance participants’ handicraft skills and introduce them to straightforward, practical methods for utilizing yarn to produce functional items that add a personal and aesthetic touch to their tables.
She added that the workshop is suitable for beginners and handicraft enthusiasts, providing all necessary tools and yarns for hands-on practice, enabling participants to complete their projects independently and acquire a new skill in weaving as part of the “Summer Cultural Festival 18” activities.
