Turkey: F-16 fighter jet crashes, pilot survives

Istanbul, Aug 12 (KUNA) -- The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced on Wednesday that an F-16 fighter jet crashed in the Yalova province in western Turkey, with its pilot surviving after ejecting by parachute. The Turkish Anadolu Agency quoted the ministry in a statement saying, “The incident was accidental and occurred during a training mission.” The statement added, “An F-16 fighter jet belonging to our air force crashed due to an accidental incident while conducting a training flight in Yalova province, while the pilot managed to survive after parachuting out.” The statement noted that the causes of the incident would be determined following detailed investigations to be conducted at the crash site.
