Iraqi Kurdistan: Four drones shot down in northern Erbil, no casualties reported

Erbil, August 12 (KUNA) – A security source in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq confirmed on Wednesday that four drones, likely of Iranian origin, were shot down in the northern areas of Erbil Province in the region, with no casualties reported. The source told the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) that the four drones crashed in three locations in the districts of Soran, Khilfan, and Herir, near the Iraqi-Iranian border to the north. He clarified that the downing of one drone in Herir sparked a fire on Mount Bani Herir, while another crashed near a village in Khilfan. A third drone struck a home belonging to a citizen in Soran, but no casualties were recorded at any of the three sites. Since the beginning of the US war on Iran on February 28, the Kurdistan Region and the offices of Iranian opposition parties based there have been subjected to attacks by drones and ballistic missiles.
