Lebanon: Golan Heights are an inseparable part of Syrian territory

Beirut, August 11 (KUNA) -- Lebanon today expressed its firm rejection of the Colombian government’s decision to recognize Israeli occupation’s sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan Heights, affirming that it remains an inseparable part of Syrian territory. The Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, in a statement, reiterated the necessity of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and the integrity and unity of its territorial integrity, emphasizing that Israel’s decision to annex the Golan violates the rules of international law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter, particularly Article 2, paragraph 4. The statement recalled United Nations Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981, which underscored the inadmissibility of the acquisition of territory by force and declared Israel’s decision to annex the Golan “null and void and without any legal effect.” (End) F.Z. / A.S.
