Jeddah, August 11 (KUNA) -- The Muslim World League condemned on Tuesday the Colombian government’s recognition of Israeli occupation sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan. In a statement, the League’s Secretary-General and Chairman of the Council of Muslim Scholars, Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, denounced this recognition as a violation of international law and relevant resolutions of the United Nations, particularly Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981, which declared that the imposition by the Israeli occupation of its laws, jurisdiction, and administration on the occupied Syrian Golan is null and void and has no legal effect. Al-Issa reiterated that the Golan is occupied Syrian Arab land, and that any measures or decisions contrary to this are null, rejected, condemned, and undermine efforts to achieve peace in the region.
