British Foreign Secretary calls for an end to violence in the West Bank and lifting the blockade on Gaza

London, August 11 (KUNA) -- British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband called on Tuesday for an immediate halt to violence in the West Bank, settlement expansion, and the lifting of restrictions on the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip. According to a statement issued by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Miliband raised these concerns during a telephone conversation with the Israeli government, noting that he addressed “the sharp escalation in settler violence and settlement expansion, as well as the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza.” He emphasized the importance of implementing the peace plan for Gaza, affirming that the British government supports dialogue and is fundamentally committed to a two-state solution. The West Bank is experiencing a rise in violence carried out by settlers against Palestinians, alongside continued settlement expansion and restrictions on the movement of residents, while the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip continues to worsen due to the ongoing aftermath of the war and restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid, which are obstructing the delivery of essential supplies to the people of the Strip.
