US President reaffirms commitment to either escalating economic pressure on Iran, launching a military strike, or reaching a diplomatic agreement

Washington, Aug 11 (KUNA) – U.S. President Donald Trump affirmed on Tuesday that the current situation of the Iranian regime is “unsustainable,” noting that Washington has three strategies for dealing with Iran, including continuing economic pressure or launching strong military strikes, amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement with Tehran.

In an interview with Real America’s Voice, Trump said he has “three strategies for dealing with Iran”: “monitoring how bad their situation is (economically),” “delivering a strong blow to them,” and “economic pressure, which we are already doing.” He added, “We control a large portion of the Iranians’ money and assets, and they are under our complete control. They are experiencing 300 percent inflation, their currency has virtually no value, and they cannot pay their soldiers’ salaries, which is causing them to leave the service.”

He continued, “So we are continuing this approach because the current situation in Iran is unsustainable,” pointing out that the United States could “deliver a very strong blow to them.” The U.S. president stated, “Economically, their situation is in chaos. They cannot borrow money. We control their funds—those they previously held—which are huge sums, and we control them entirely.”

Earlier, on Sunday, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the economic pressure policy pursued by the United States to deprive the Iranian regime of its financial resources would continue with Trump’s support. He noted that the Strait of Hormuz would lose its significance over the next two years, saying that “50 to 70 percent of the capacity currently passing through the strait will be transported via underground pipelines.” (End) R.S.R./S.M.A.
