State of Kuwait condemns and denounces Colombia's recognition of Israeli occupation authorities' sovereignty over the Syrian Golan

Kuwait City, August 11 (KUNA) -- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the State of Kuwait’s condemnation and rejection of the Colombian government’s recognition of Israeli occupation authorities’ sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan, reaffirming Kuwait’s opposition to this step, which contravenes international law and relevant resolutions of the United Nations, particularly Security Council Resolution 497 of 1981, which deemed the occupation authority’s imposition of its laws and administration on the occupied Syrian Golan null and void and without any legal effect.

In a statement issued today, Tuesday, the Ministry reiterated Kuwait’s firm position that the Syrian Golan is occupied Syrian Arab land, and its rejection of any decisions aimed at entrenching the occupation or granting it legitimacy, emphasizing the principle that the acquisition of territory by force is inadmissible in accordance with the UN Charter and the principles of international law.

The Ministry also affirmed Kuwait’s support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity of the sister Syrian Arab Republic, renewing its call on the international community, particularly the Security Council, to fulfill its responsibilities in ensuring respect for international law and the UN Charter, and to compel the Israeli occupation forces to withdraw from all occupied Arab territories.
